The Allium Floor Lamp in Green
Most of my designs begin as a general shape and as I develop the concept, I start to think about color, texture and materials. Perhaps it’s because the shape of this lamp reminds me of a damigiana bottle, but from the very beginning I’d imagined it as a dark emerald green.

The Allium Floor Lamp Base Details
Different views of The Allium base. This lamp is made by laminating thin strips of ash in a bending form followed by careful hand shaping. It's then dyed a dark emerald green and finished with a water based polyurethane. The open grain of the ash absorbs the stain beautifully and creates a multi-toned effect that is unachievable with paint.
The Allium Floor Lamp in Walnut & Zebrawood
My initial concept was the Allium in Green, but as I began working on that piece I considered a variation using complimentary woods for the two distinct sections.
