This project features African Mahogany (Khaya) paneling and cabinetry adorning all four walls of a living room. An integrated fireplace mantle on the long wall surrounds a Mexican art tile fireplace with a wood stove insert and ceramic tile hearth.
This living room won first place in Fine Woodworking Magazine’s “Best Built-Ins” competition.
The media center features recessed lighting above a fixed top shelf sized to accommodate bookshelf height speakers and a center channel. Half of the upper area is dedicated to books behind glass doors, while the other half is open to accommodate a large flat-screen television. One of the base cabinets houses the A/V components behind a glass door. The four visible drawers provide for both CD and DVD storage by means of adjustable dividers, as do the additional eight drawers concealed behind the adjacent pair of cabinet doors.

A southern facing wall features two built-in cabinets separated by a triple window and integrated bench seat. The depth of the cabinet on the left-hand side, which functions as a computer desk, was severely limited by the short wall of an adjacent archway. Fortunately, a flat screen LCD and computer in one, along with a slide out keyboard tray, permits a fully functional computer desk that is only 12” deep. The wireless printer resides on a sliding shelf within the much deeper base cabinet across the bench.

As seen from the breakfast table... The warm honey tones of these cabinets beautifully contrast the cool charcoal of the soapstone countertops, while the red accents of the chairs, backsplash and Murano glass pendants add a bit of vibrance. The large island provides both ample storage and an ideal place for guests to congregate at parties and family gatherings.

Ol -world style and craftsmanship abound in this small powder room. The corner vanity and wall paneling are made of African mahogany (Khaya). The vanity top and honeycomb tile floor are vibrant white and gray Statuario marble. The corner medicine cabinet showcases a lovely upcycled 1920’s etched glass mirror.
After expanding the narrow doorway of a linen closet to reveal the full interior of the space, this beautiful armoire was designed and built to fit. Behind the double doors are adjustable shelves for towels with small drawers for toiletries and miscellaneous items. The two huge full extension drawers below feature aromatic cedar bottoms for the proper storage of bed linens and blankets.
Reminiscent of an old fashioned commode, this vanity is constructed of African mahogany with book matched fiddleback Mahogany panels. The integrated vanity top and sink are porcelain white Fireclay. The vanity cabinet bottom and drawers have laminated bottoms for easy cleaning.
